Week Eleven

Ah,springtime, my favorite time of year. The sun is just right for my cat naps, not too hot, not too cold. Weeks eleven and twelve were just right too and very much the "cat's meow"! I loved both the LibraryThing and Rollyo. They were both very easy to set up and use. For LibraryThing, what a great way to organize all of my favorite cookbooks and keep track of which favorite recipe came out of which book, using tags. It also is a great way to find other people with similar reading or collecting tastes and a way to find other books that I didn't know about previously. LibraryThing could work well in creating lists of resources on similar topics...a very narrow attempt at "webfeet" searching. One could put similar books, electronic subscription resources and websites together in one searchable place. It could also be a fun way to highlight what staff is reading and/or what the community is reading and create a "virtual" reading club.

For Rollyo, it was very easy to use! I tried vacations, bookclubs and recipes. Some of these were a bit far-fetched but that is ok. I made custom searchrolls for vacations, bookclubs, and recipes and what a great way to keep track of favorite websites as well as find other similar websites!

The library could make use of Rollyo by putting items by "topic", creating "in-house" links, "subscription" sites as well as web sites.

I like you LibraryThing bookshelf. Do you own the King Arthur Flour Baking Companion? That's my favorite baking book. Worth checking out.
